We recently decided to limit my son’s Screen time. Only 30 minutes of tv, or video games a day. Honestly only a few days in and the results have been great. He seems happier and he’s spending a lot more time doing creative things. Like drawing.

Here’s one of his latest creations, the Toyota Africa. Named after the song, but the Weezer version, not the Toto version, he was very clear about that.

Yes that’s a forward facing exhaust, an idea he took from the Hoonigan build And Battle Camaro.

We use a Disney Circle and Screentime to control screens for my daughter (thanks to Buck for helping me). She was exhibiting classic addictive behavior the longer she was online. This semester we are moving to a more flexible permissions system based on how she conducts herself as she is getting older.

Having to fill time without screens led to more creative stuff for us too.

Nice. My son does similar drawings and half of them make me think KONY 2020 ? The war machines disturb my wife a bit, but sometimes I’ll show her my childhood drawings that my parents have held onto. I’m not sure if that puts her at ease about our son or makes her worry about me more...

As an adult 30 minutes a day wouldn’t enough for me to even check my emails and check oppo lol. Anyways glad you kid is being creative. I designed all kinds of crazy, cool things when i was kid. Now if i had Elon levels of money i would build half of them. Man, being a kid was great.

Between school and work, I think i do something like 8 or so hours a day on a screen. not counting my phone
